My Summer Reading List

I LOVE to read.  I don't always give myself the time to do it but when I have a good book, I love that I give myself the time to do it.

I would call myself a book snob.  I like brand new, hard cover books.  I LOVE going in to the book store and picking out a new book to read.  If I'm honest I'll say that I buy a new book and put it on my shelf until I'm finished with the book I am currently on.  Well...I have a full bookshelf of books I haven't read.  I've noticed I always end up buying the "IN" book that is on the end cap of the book aisle at Target!

When we first moved here, somehow I found out about a couple books that were being released.  If you were one of the first 500 people to pre-order you were sent an autograph.  Eeekkk this was so exciting for me!

The first was, Living In Style by Rachel Zoe.  I plan on buying a super pretty frame, framing it and putting it in my office space.

The second was Lea Michele's book, Brunette Ambition.

I haven't read either of these books, I'm ashamed to say, but they look pretty on my bookshelf :)

I've mentioned before that I am currently reading, Jodi Picoult - The Storyteller.  This book is just getting good towards the end.  I am the type of person that if I start reading a book, I HAVE to finish it.  That is what is going on with this book.  I really can't start another book because it makes my OCD go crazy.  I think it's definitely been over one year that I have been reading this book.  Pretty pathetic but I'm almost there.  I'm hoping the next few books don't take me as long!

Next on my list is, Sugar Savvy Solution by High Voltage.

I'll be honest, I was looking for a book about "cutting sugar" and this book was pretty.  The inside looked pretty too so I bought it.  I started reading some of it and it definitely is going to be eye opening.  Did you know you should only have 25 grams of sugar in one day?  Try looking at that Nutrition Label on the side of your food and see how hard that truly is.

Last on my list for this summer is, The life-changing magic of tidying up by Marie Kondo. I've heard so much about this book I just had to get it!  I'm curious to see what this is all about.

I really do love reading so I need to make this a priority.  I might have to go as far as adding it in to my planner to make sure I get it done ;)

Check out the Style Me Bloggers link up to check out what these FABULOUS ladies are reading.

What are you reading?  Anything I should add to my list?

Until Next Time
XOXO

Summer Gift Exchange

This lovely group I am in, Style Me Bloggers, is amazing.  We recently did a summer gift exchange, a little gift about where we're from.

I sent my gift to Lana, you'll have to check out what I gave her at Two Teens And Their Mama.  I received a LOVELY gift from Sheila at Making the Most of Everyday.  Let's take a look:

When I opened my box, it was FULL!!! I mean I thought the goodies were never going to end.  Sheila was so super sweet with everything she sent!

Sheila lives in Florida.  She sent me this beautiful frame.  You may think that it's just a seashell frame BUT she collected the shells and glued them on herself.  This is such a BEAUTIFUL frame and the fact that she did all that to send to me, makes it that much more special.  I actually have the PERFECT picture for it!

Food items!!! Ahhh who doesn't love some food fun?!
Bold Bean Coffee - She said it's from a very popular local coffee shop.  I haven't tried it yet.  I only have a Keurig and all my friends do too.  I think it may be time to buy one of those little attachment thingies.
Key Lime Juice - Key Lime Pie recipe is on the bottle!  Eeek I'm going to have to try this.  She said she makes it all the time and there's only 3 ingredients.  I'm in!
Peterbrooke Chocolate Covered Popcorn - It's a local company that makes lots of "yummy stuff".  And let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS!  It might be almost gone (insert shocked face here...)
Nutella - This is my favorite.  She said, "Although it isn't a Florida thing, it is an Italian thing and since I was born and raised in Italy, I felt I had to include a little piece of the boot!"  Loving the personal gift with the Nutella.
Dat'l Do-It Datil Pepper Hot Sauce - This is from St. Augustine, she hopes I like hot sauce!  Not too hot but I'm willing to try it!

Last but certainly not least, a bracelet.  I'm in love with this.  I love all the colors and the rocks.  Can't wait to pair it with a super cute summer outfit!

Thanks so MUCH Sheila, I absolutely LOVED your package.

Make sure you check out the rest of the group.  There are some fun gift items in this group.

Until Next Time

A Little, Pretty, In the Kitchen

I'm all about home decor.  I mean, I just can't get enough.  Well, I take that back, my house is pretty much at the point where I have reached, enough.  I don't think I have any blank wall space left.  I'm in trouble when we finally buy a house, or shall I say my walls are ;)

Our Kitchen is T.I.NY!  I can't.even.stand.it.  I'm STILL having trouble organizing it.  And for someone that LOVES organization, ooh, it gets me DAILY.

Since my kitchen drives me crazy I thought I would spruce it up with a little pretty.  Our Pantry is TINY.  I can't really figure out how to get it to be functional for us.

The pantry is also RIGHT next to a window that has vertical blinds.  This is something that I can not fix because of our lease rules.

This is the only pantry in the kitchen.  There's not a lot of storage space either in this kitchen so the pantry doubles as a spot for storing some kitchen stuff.

I have seen a couple cute ideas on Pinterest with Pantry doors.  I thought that it might be impossible since I really don't have a lot of space.  Then, I went to Target and saw THIS little beauty.

I fell in love with it and decided it had to come home with me.  I got my inspiration from a certain pin on Pinterest.  You can check it out, here.  After some thought, I pulled out my Silhouette Cameo and decided to play.

I also had to think about how I was going to hang the wreathe on the wall.  I have a handy little box of extra Command strips and hooks that I haven't used.

It definitely came in handy to have these ready to go because you never know when I'll find a wall SOMEWHERE and be hit with inspiration ;)

I finished my "Pantry" sign with some black vinyl that I had on hand.  And here is what it turned out like.

I mean, I couldn't be happier!  Check out the Before and After.

I am definitely happy with the end result.  It makes going to the pantry a little more pleasant.

Sometimes the littlest thing can make a big difference.  I'm in LOVE.

This Place I Call Home!

Back with another awesome edition of The Style Me Bloggers Link Up.

I must admit when I saw the writing prompt for this week I was a little nervous.  But as I started looking through pictures, I started to see that we really have done a lot here!

We have been here over one year now. (You can read all about our move, HERE)  It was tough at first but we are pretty much in our "norm" now.

So here is our life in this place we call home:

We went to our second pumpkin patch as a family this year.  The last time we went was about two months after Kailey was born.  It was a lot of fun.

Because we are super safe here on this base (although the worry never goes away) and pretty much everyone knows everyone, I allowed Kyle to go Trick or Treating with his friends without me.  I was clearly sad about it.  He's at the age where, on base, he is aloud to do that, so I let him.

We've experienced a LOT of snow.  Kids were out of school and mommy was out of work.  Made for some serious cabin fever!

The kids and I experienced our first Japanese steakhouse.  Kyle was amazed at the steak!
Otani Japanese Steak and Seafood House

We discovered Sweet Frog!  This could be a bad thing for me but the kids LOVE it!  Frozen yogurt is the way to go!

Chipotle!! OMG my friend Cory introduced me to it.  I'll never forget eating it for the first time.  Then I found out that my friend Arianna loved it and that was it.  Once I moved I realized they had one here.  Needless to say I got one of my friends hooked too!
Burrito Bowl anyone?!

IKEA!  I mean nothing more to say!  I am HOOKED!! Too bad my house is too small!  Gotta love having a fun time with your BESTIE!

A beautiful view!  The one thing we love about where we live, is the beautiful surrounding.  Our house is tiny but we have a nice little piece of property.  The kids have room to roam and play!

Work!! Don't be jealous this stuff will make you sick! ;) If you are ever in this part of Virginia, make sure you stop at my work, Mary's Cakery and Candy Kitchen.  An old time candy store with fun gifts and the most delicious chocolate around.  There are not many candy stores like this anymore.

A Golf cart community!  Say what?!  Yup Colonial Beach is where our good friends Jennie and Dan live. A lot of people own golf carts and go places all over the little town.  It's definitely a fun little place. We took a little trip to the local 7-eleven to get our Slurpee in a cup fill!

Richmond is not too far from us.  I went with work to a Women's Show.  It was pretty fun.  I was in GREAT company!

Jessa Duggar was the "celebrity" guest. I didn't get to meet her but I kept going back every few half hours, lol, to see if I could go through the line.  I never got to go through the line but I did get to see her leave and guess what I saw, a baby bump!  I walked back to our booth and told the girls.  Turned out I was right, that following Monday they made the announcement! I was lucky enough to get this close but even more lucky that the book company allowed me to buy a book, give it to them and have her sign it.

Here's her and Ben's autograph.  I know you're not supposed to have authors sign your name but this was for me!

And our hard work paid off!  We were one of 10 winning Exhibit Displays.  Kind of a great accomplishment!

On this base when we hear "colors" we stop and salute.  It's one of the neatest things to experience, even better when you know you have taught your kids right!

Alpaca Farm, eek that was interesting.  We went with our Girl Scout troop.  I learned that my little one CAN clean when she's asked!

We took a 2 hour trip to Luray Caverns.  It was definitely really cool.  The rocks are crazy that it almost doesn't even seem real.

My little handsome and I!

Great Wolf Lodge.  A fun hotel with a HUGE water park inside.  This was a lot of fun!  Our AWESOME Girl Scouts Troop Leader had some awesome events this year and this was one that I couldn't pass up.  Neither one of us had been so we made sure to take advantage.  It was a blast!

After seeing all these pictures, I guess there is a lot that we have here at home.  We are about one hour away from Washington D.C.  We haven't made a trip there yet but Kailey and I will be visiting this July, on my BIRTHDAY, for the Taylor Swift concert.

We only have two years left here in Dahlgren.  I have high hopes to make it down to Florida and New York to visit my childhood Best Friend, a trip to Philadelphia to meet up with a dear friend ;), Georgia, South Carolina and Norfolk to visit a couple of my bestest friends.  Time goes by so fast that I can't even stand it but I hope we can do some of it.  Who knows where we'll end up next?!

Until Next Time

May 2015 Ipsy Review

EEEEK! Let's talk pretty pink bags!  I used to belong to Birchbox.  It was a fun little treat, getting a box in the mail every month but I felt like I was getting the same product over and over again.

I recently decided to sign up with ipsy.  I had seen so many people with them and they were super excited and it looked like they got some decent size samples.

I can't even tell you the excitement when I got my first bag.  I planned on sharing but LIFE got in the way and it just didn't happen.  Fast forward to May's bag!

First let me say that the packaging is something to get excited about.

If you shop online a lot, you get excited that you're getting a package anyway, but when it looks like this?! Forget it, I couldn't wait to tear in to the bag.

So this is the first thing that you see.  The bag and a little postcard with the "theme" of the bag.  This month it was Jetsetter.

I mean this bag!!! Soooo adorable.  I plan on putting my everyday cosmetics in this to be able to get to them easy.

...and finally, the goodies!

A full size makeup brush by Luxie.
I mean, you can't go wrong with a full size brush.  It's a nice brush and works good.

Detoxifying Citrus C Facial Cleanser.
It smells good ;)  I mean I can't really say much of anything else.  When I used it for the first time, the first thing I noticed was the smell.  I didn't really feel like my face had just been really cleaned.  It just smelled pretty.

CoTZ face sheer matte finish.
I wasn't sure what to think about this.  It's about the size of my pointer finger, this picture may be slightly deceiving. It has directions on it and that's about it.  I don't know if I'm supposed to use it under make-up, or just as cover up.  It says to apply literally 15 minutes before sun exposure.

Chella eyebrow pencil.
I'll be honest, I don't know how to use an eyebrow pencil.  Ummm my eyebrows are kind of crazy.  The hair grows down and stays down.  I need to go in to one of those beauty stores like Sephora or Ulta to get some lessons on this kind of stuff.  When I tried it on, it did cover what I think it was supposed to.  The only problem is, I'm pretty sure that each eyebrow looked completely different.

Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipgloss
I was super excited to see the Urban Decay brand.  I have the Naked 2 pallet and LOVE it so I assumed the lipstick would be just as awesome! Not too sure about the color this model is sporting.

Here is what the inside of the sample was like.  I'm LOVING the color on the left.  The one on the right, not so much!

To apply the color I had to dip this pencil in the color I wanted.  It claimed to be vibrant color but it was not easy to use.  I'm not sure if it was set up like this for sample wise or what but it just ended up being a gloppy mess.  I either got too much on the pencil or not enough.  And then the pencil tip broke.  The color wasn't vibrant at all just a gloppy mess.

Have you used it?  Is this just the sample?

Overall I enjoyed this bag.  The one thing that Birchbox did that I liked better, is when you received your box, you got a post card with each item in the box, written on there. You got a description of what the item was and how to use it and the price of a full sized item.

I'm loving the vibrant post card from ipsy but it just doesn't do anything for me.  I'll probably just end up throwing it away.

Here's a recap:
The bag - Thumbs UP
The brush - Thumbs UP
Cleanser - Thumbs DOWN
CoTZ face sunscreen/finish - Thumbs DOWN
Chella Eyebrow Pencil - Thumbs UP
Urban Decay Lipgloss - Thumbs DOWN

I guess really this bag was OK.  Nothing to be super excited about other than the excitement of getting the bag.

I did review everything on the ipsy site so I could get points.  After receiving your bag, you can review your items for points.  They also have items that you can buy for points.
Another cool thing that they offer on ipsy, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, is products at great prices.  But don't wait because they do sell out.

If you're interested in getting an ipsy bag of your own go HERE. When you sign up using my code I will get points.  You can also refer friends and earn points as well.

I'm super excited to see what comes next.  I've also decided to skip the sneak preview that they offer before your bag ships.  I like surprises.

Do you prefer ipsy or Birchbox?
